River Runs Red

Along this path and journey we call life, I lost my brother to suicide while I was in the Galapagos and I learned about the sexual assault that my sister endured as a child - occurred often while I was in the room next door and did not find out about it until I was a young adult - around the time I decided to explore forensic psychology at John Jay in New York City.

Left me with more questions then answers and wanting to learn how to be in a position to advocate for others in need.

I also realize that I am a social worker by nature and have been doing social work throughout my life without even knowing it. I hope to one day get my LCSW, specialize in trauma and mental health, and work with children and families that have experienced trauma.  Another part of me is also considering school social work.

River Runs Red
My sister drew this and titled it "River Runs Red" when she was angry at everyone and everything in life.  It is a visual representation for her of what she was feeling at the time as a result of the sexual assault she endured as a child.  She is my greatest teacher in life.

That was a small glimpse of my journey thus far.  I hope to reach out and continue to support others in any way that I can.  Thank you for reading through my journey thus
far ...
